We offer a set of frequently asked questions in order to clarify normal doubts related to the rental of a motorcycle. Any question, please feel free to contact us.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR RENTING A SCOOTER/MOTO?

First of all, you must be 18 years old or older. Driver’s license (car or moto) is compulsory as well as a second identification with a photo (passport or national ID card). Previous experience in driving scooters/motorcycles is mandatory.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE TO RENT A SCOOTER / MOTORBIKE?

Yes, you must be, at least, 18 years old to rent a 125cc vehicle or 23 years old to rent above 125cc. Nevertheless, you must have previous experience in riding scooters or motorbikes.

DO I NEED AN INTERNATIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE?

If you are a non-European (EU) or from non-European Economic Area (EEA) licence holder, the International Driving Permit is mandatory to rent with us.

The EU countries are:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. UK after Brexit: At this moment all valid driving licences issued by the UK are recognised on the same terms as driving licences issued by any Member States of the EU.

The European Economic Area (EEA):

The EEA includes EU countries and also Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. It allows them to be part of the EU’s single market.

Switzerland is neither an EU nor EEA member but is part of the single market – this means Swiss nationals have the same rights to live and work in the UK as other EEA nationals.

DO YOU PROVIDE SCOOTER DRIVING LESSON?

No, we are not certified to provide Scooter Driving Lessons.

CAN 2 PEOPLE RIDE IN THE SCOOTER?

Yes. All scooters and motorbike are suitable for 2 people. The second helmet is also included on the price.

DO I NEED TO WEAR A HELMET?

When riding a scooter/motorcycle Helmet use (buckled on) is compulsory by the Portuguese Law.

DO YOU HAVE MAXIMUM KMS PER DAY?

No, just use your common sense and you can drive for as much as you wish too, as long as you bring it back during the rental agreed time. Please have in mind the more you ride the tired you get, you may loose focus.

WHAT IF I WANT TO KEEP THE SCOOTER LONGER THAN THE AGREED?

You need to let us know this in advance, the sooner, the better, you may call or email. Additional charges will apply.

WHAT TYPE OF ROADS CAN I RIDE IN?

You can only ride on Paved National Roads and all types of roads including highways(exception: 50cc).

With exception for the occasional hard packed parking lot or beach access our Scooters are not suitable for off-road riding, which can easily be noticed. Penalty charges may apply.

WHAT ABOUT TOLLS?

While using a moto you will have to pay tolls when necessary.

DO I NEED TO REFUEL THE MOTO?

Moto needs to be returned with the same level of fuel as on pick up. If not we will charge a Refill fee of 10EUR, plus fuel cost. Scooters run on unleaded fuel ( Gasolina Sem Chumbo 98).

WHAT TYPE OF CREDIT CARDS DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept Visa and Mastercard only.

WHAT DOES YOUR INSURANCE POLICY COVERS?

We are fully licensed and insured for our activity according to the Portuguese Law. Our Insurance policy covers mandatory third part liability only.  It means that the damages you may cause to other parties (vehicles, objects, people, etc.) are covered. It does not cover the damages you may suffer (injuries, medical expenses).

WHAT HAPPENS IN CASE OF ACCIDENT OR SCOOTER THEFT?

We always hope it doesn’t happen. In case of accident or Scooter theft you should notify us immediately, contact the Police (112) and get an Official Report with a detailed description of what happened.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IN CASE OF SCOOTER BREAKDOWN?

You should contact us immediately, nevertheless it is your responsibility to stay alert for signs of problems, stop and inform us when appropriate en before things develop into worse condition.

WHAT ABOUT PARKING AND TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS?

While using a Scooter you are liable to comply with the Portuguese Traffic Code. Upon request Authorities will be notified of driver details at the time of penalty.

SHOULD I HAVE TRAVEL INSURANCE?

You should always have an adequate Travel and Health insurance. Please make sure it covers your Personal Accidents in case of accident while riding a scooter/motorbike.
